Commentaires du Broker
The Westerly Fulmar has long enjoyed a reputation as one of the finest all-round cruising yachts of her size, combining excellent sailing performance with the solid build quality and practical accommodation for which Westerly became so well known. Designed by the highly respected Ed Dubois, the Fulmar remains a popular choice with sailors looking for a capable coastal cruiser that is equally at home making longer offshore passages.
This 1989 example presents as a tidy and well-equipped yacht with a sensible inventory and a comfortable layout offering accommodation for up to six. Below decks she feels surprisingly spacious for her size, with two separate cabins, a practical galley complete with cooker, grill and oven, hot and cold pressurised water, heating and a comfortable saloon that makes her well suited to extended cruising. The interior has the warm and reassuring feel that has helped make the Fulmar such an enduring favourite amongst cruising sailors.
On deck she is set up for straightforward handling with a slab reefing mainsail in a stack pack, furling headsail, lazy jacks and a good complement of winches. The tiller steering provides an engaging sailing experience and the fin keel version is particularly sought after for its sailing performance and responsiveness. The Volvo 2020B diesel engine provides reliable auxiliary power, while recent additions such as a new DSC VHF radio add to her practicality and safety.
Included in the sale are an inflatable dinghy from 2023 and a Yamaha outboard, alongside a good range of navigation and safety equipment including chartplotter, autopilot, liferaft and MOB gear. Overall, this appears to be a well-cared-for example of a highly respected cruising yacht that continues to offer an excellent balance of performance, comfort and value.
